Douglas Talley

Mr. Talley is an independent consultant at Risk International Services, Inc., a leading risk management consulting/outsourcing firm with offices in Cleveland, Charlotte, and London. He also leads the Insurance Archaeology and claims practice, which provides a comprehensive set of solutions including location and reconstruction of lost insurance policies, claims negotiation, and insurance recovery.

Mr. Talley and his team have been innovative leaders in the insurance archaeology field since the 1980s. During Risk International's 25 years of searching through buildings, files, offices, court records, and other documents, they have located or reconstructed more than $41 billion in lost policies, some dating back to the 1930s. They have also recovered over $550 million in policyholder claims from insurers throughout the world. Risk International has provided insurance archaeology work for a variety of clients, including Fortune 500, midmarket, and small corporations; law firms; and state insurance regulators.

Recognized as an expert in insurance archaeology and policy reconstruction, insurance claim recovery, and insurance law, Mr. Talley has been quoted in Risk & Insurance, Business Insurance, The Journal of Commerce, Il Mondo, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and has been interviewed on National Public Radio. He has been a frequent speaker at regional and national seminars on the topics of insurance archaeology and insurance claim resolution and has testified at various regulatory and congressional hearings on the issue of insurance recovery for Holocaust victims.

Prior to working at Risk International, Mr. Talley worked for Roetzel & Andress as an insurance defense attorney. Mr. Talley earned his juris doctor degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 1984.
